PROPOSAL
NO.: 0414504
INSTITUTION: LexiClone
NSF PROGRAM: INFORMATION & DATA MANAGEMENT
PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR: Geller, Ilya S
TITLE: Lexical Cloning: the novel approach for textual information
processing and knowledge flow control
RATING:Fair
REVIEW:
What is the intellectual merit of the proposed activity?
The goal of this proposal is to investigate and implement textual data
searching software ideas that incorporate lexical analysis through Lexical
Cloning technology. In this way, users' linguistic patterns for searching
data are analyzed in addition to users' unexpressed requests. This seems
to be promising ideas and a desirable direction.
However, this proposal is seriously flawed. It does not provide any
related previous research references at all except a self-citation to PI's own
demonstration at the TREC conference. This proposal fails to support
novelty, significance, and validity of its own research ideas.
What are the broader impacts of the proposed activity?
There is no indication of broader impact of the activities of this proposal
except the success of the proposal will bring some benefit for the company who
possess this proprietary technology. It also might enhance information
searching productivity at certain degree.
Summary Statement
Again, this proposal is simply not valid as a research project. It is
poorly written and organized. I rate this proposal as "Fair."
